March 13, 2012 Lava Update

Aloha again! Last nights tour was a difficult one. The tilt meter on Pu’u O’o vent had showed some significant deflation. Sunday evening Deflation had started at 11pm. Lava had slowed down tremendously. Luckily Our tour guides could find some lava. We got to view some nice A’a flows. The Pali had some spots of glow and the eastern lobe had stalled at the moment. On the top of the Pulama Pali Glow could be seen from could of spots. It started to intensify by the end of the evening. We are checking the Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory website for more Lava updates. Early this morning DI inflation had started. Activity on the coastal plain will be active again. Stay tuned for more updates. Also check our video page. We have posted some incredible aerial footage of the flow on March 6,2012. Mahalo
