July 14, 2012 Lava Update

Aloha gang and happy Aloha Sunday! Last nights tour was excellent. We had witnessed some awesome surface flows on the coastal plains just about a 1/4 of a mile from the base of the Pali(hillside).  We just had a good size DI deflation at the summit and at Pu’u O’o vent which had stalled majority of the flow front and some of the  eastern lobe. The western flow front ,which is the closest to the ocean and stalled out earlier yesterday. Late Friday night, early Saturday morning DI inflation had started up and it was a huge one. Last night our tours have witnessed a lot of lava traveling down the hillside. Huge rivers and massive ponding of lava had been seen on the bottom of the Pali. We have never seen that much amount of Lava in a while. To nights tours could be in for a special treat. We are predicting a lot of Lava to be seen. Stay tune for more updates. Aloha!
