August 17, 2012 Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone and we hope everyone had a great Aloha Friday. Lava on the coastal plains was still active last night. Both tours witnessed some nice surface breakouts just about 1/3 of a mile from the base of the Royal Gardens Pali. The summit just had it’s first DI Deflation event since last week. At 11:30p.m the tilt meter seem to bottom out a -1 microdians. We are expecting it to rise in the next day. Pu’u  O’o vent tilt meter had bottom out at 0 microdians. No significant changes during this event.
