Aloha! Lava activity is good and the leading edge has advanced since last night. The flow is still very wide, but the leading lobe has hit a steep portion of the hill, which will cause most of the lava to flow down in this area. This leading lobe is now visible on the USGS mobile webcam 3 ( found on the USGS website ) and from the Kalapana Lava Viewing area. Our group was again able to get up close to safely view the multiple surface breakouts.

The tiltmeter, which is also found on the USGS website is currently recording an ongoing inflation. This inflation can also be seen in the overall lava activity. Contact us for more information and to book your tour. Aloha!
