Aloha! We had a lot of action tonight. Multiple surface flows were visible and our group safely got up close and personal to them. The hillside was aglow with the many surface breakouts that were seen. The leading edge of the flows have reached the base of the pali and is starting to make it’s way onto the coastal plains. A few large breakouts were seen on the pali. The Kipuka that the lava is in now is being decimated by both lava and fires started by the lava. Large fires would break out every once and awhile and smaller fires were constantly burning. The tiltmeter is currently recording inflation and this is evident in the overall activity of the flows. Until next time, Aloha!
