October 08,2012 Tour

Aloha! The leading edge has advanced further eastward and towards the ocean. Multiple surface breakouts were seen as this flow is very wide. Up on the Pali there were a few surface breakouts that could be seen from our position and from the Kalapana Lava Viewing Area. These surface flows must have broken out from the new tube system that has been created from this new flow.

The USGS tiltmeter is recording an ongoing inflation, which has been going on for over a week. This is the reason for all the activity, which is very high at the moment. Now is a very good time to book your tour. Until next time, Aloha!
