October 14,2012 Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone! AT this time the summit of Kilauea(Halemaumau crater) and Pu’u O’o crater is still inflating at a steady rate. This behavior have not occurred in a while. In Halemaumau crater the Lava lake had over filled the inner edge lastnight and due to this event the activity in Pu’u O’o crater also will be spurring up. Glow from Pu’u O’o crater could be seen clear and bright from the coastal plains. Activity on the coastal plains will be very active in the next couple days due to these events occurring on both summits. Lava on the coastal plains lastnight was awesome. Lava had filled up a little hole and started moving towards east and seaward. Many different breakout could be seen lastnight and also in the middle of the flow field which it was difficult to get to because of the area it was flowing. Both of our tours got up to some incredible surface flows. Book a tour now while the Lava is hot.
