October 17, 2012 Tour

Aloha Folks! Last night we were able to get close to some nice surface flows. The leading edge has advanced to approximately 1 mile away from the ocean. The flow on the coastal plains is approximately 1/4 – 1/2 mile wide. Lately the lava activity has been really good and this can be credited to the ongoing inflation, which can found on the deformation page on the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory website (www.hvo.wr.usgs.gov). Now would be a good time to reserve your spot. See you later, Aloha!
