November 27,2012 Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone again for another episode of the Kalapana Cultural Tours Lava update. Inflation both at the summit and at Pu’u O’u crater has been steadily rising for the past week. These behaviors are unknown. We are expecting a deflation soon though. At the summit GPS network. Extension at Kilauea had slowed down but there might be a slight increase because of this steady Inflation. The Lava lake rose to just under the inner ledge of the Halemaumau crater last night.  Also at Pu’u O’o, the north east pit had shown some activity also Last night which also could be seen from the county viewing area last night.

Last night we had 3 tours that were able to get up to some impressive surface flows. Flows on the coastal plains were very active just Mauka side(Hillside) of the ocean entry. The ocean entry last night had shut down during our observation last night. The ocean was small but beautiful. Little minor flows were entering the ocean. But the surface flows were incredible last night. Book a tour soon before the Lava stops. Mahalo!
