December 3, 2012 Guided Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone! Steady Inflation for the past week has spurred up activity all over the flow field. Surface flows were active and wide spread on the coastal plains with a beautiful ocean entry which was very visible. At Halema’uma’u crater, the Lava lake had rose just below the inner ledge of the crater and at Pu’u O’o crater glow could be seen from the county viewing area. At times last night Pu’u O’o crater’s glow could be seen from our office in Kaimu. At Pu’u O’o, the active was very high and elevated. That means more LAVA will be seen out on the coastal plains for the next few days.

As for our guided LAVA hikes last night, All of our guest were just happy and filled with incredible memories. All three of our tours were able to get up to some surface flows just mauka(hillside) of the ocean entry. Those flows were very active last night. After those surface activity they hiked on down to the ocean entry where it was just magical.Incredible ocean entry last night. Nice little rivers and and cascading waterfalls of Lava. Book a tour now while the LAVA is HOT!!! MAHALO!
