December 10, 2012 Guided Lava Tour

Aloha everyone again! Lava flows on the coastal plains have been very active at the this time. Up on the summit of Kilauea and Pu’u O’o vent, the tilt meters have been picking up some strange activity at both area’s. At Kilauea, Deflation had occurred yesterday and at Pu’u O’o, Inflation had occurred yesterday. Very strange activity. But we are seeing a large amount of Lava on the coastal plains.

Surface flows on the coastal plains were wide spread. There were numerous amounts of surface flows on the coastal  plains. Starting from the base of the Pali to the ocean entry. Lava viewing has been spectacular at this time. The ocean was hard to view because of the elevated surf conditions but we saw a nice flow entering the ocean. The ocean entry did not look too promising but we will be having a new ocean entry today. A huge surface flow was just making it’s way to the ocean and our guides have reported that it was just about 30 yards away from the oceans edge. By today we predict  that i will be entering the ocean today. Well Mahalo for tuning into another episode of the Guided Lava Tour Blog. Aloha
