Aloha everyone! Lava flows on the coastal plains were very active. Inflation on Kilauea volcano has made activity really good in our area. At Halema’uma’u crater, steady inflation has been recorded and the lava lake has rose just below the inner ledge about 30 feet. At Pu’u O’o crater, massive inflation has been recorded. Could be because of the heavy rain we had yesterday. Or could be because of a lot of lava returning to the system. Lava on the Pali could be seen from the county viewing area. Nice flows still on the Pali.
As for our tours yesterday. Very successful but wet. Rain was apart of our tour yesterday and made it an interesting tour. Huge billowing stem clouds covered the coastal plains and made the viewing very haunting and reminded us of a horror movie. That was so cool and our guests were so excited. Lava flows were again IMPRESSIVE. Watching it flow and filling up a depression in the earth was just amazing. The leading edge of the flow was just about 100 yards away from the ocean edge. No ocean entry! Aloha everyone and have yourself a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Aloha
