Aloha to everyone! The ocean entry is still active as well as surface flows that are visible. Our groups safely got up close to surface flows and were able to safely view the ocean entry. There were multiple ocean entry points visible at the cliff edge. Near the base of the Pali, there was a bright glow, which is indicative of a fairly large surface flow, while there were no surface flows visible on the top of the Pali.
The tilmeter, found on the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory website (www.hvo.wr.usgs.gov), had recorded a deflation that started on January 10, 2013 and switched to inflation late January 11, 2013 (last night). The overall lava activity is good at this time and now would be a good time to book your tour. Until next time, Aloha!
