February 12, 2013 Morning Guided Lava Hike

Aloha! The lava activity is high and the ocean entry is still going into the ocean at multiple points. There is a new finger of lava that hit the ocean late last night or early this morning. We happened to be fishing on our boat this morning and caught some photos of the new ocean entry and the older ones as well. The new finger of lava has moved slightly eastward and has entered the ocean approximately 100 yards east of the closest ocean entry point. This new finger adds to the width of the entire ocean entry area, which is approximately a quarter of a mile wide. There was a big Di deflation that happened two days ago, but after a few hours the deflation switched to inflation and has been inflating ever since. Overall activity is great at this time and can be expected to be good for the next few days. Until next time, Aloha!
