March 02, 2013 Guided Lava Hike

Aloha Folks! We had a beautiful night with surface flows and ocean entries. We safely got up close to surface flows and were also able to view the ocean entry from a safe vantage point. The surface flows were not as active as a few night’s ago, but we saw a little finger breakout coming out from a small tumulus. After viewing these breakouts we made our way to the ocean entry. The ocean entries that were closest to us last night were still very active, but the closest ocean entry stalled while we were there. The next closest entry point was very active however. This finger broke out multiple times while we there. Up on the Pali, the surface flows that were visible the past few days had stalled. A very beautiful evening with clear starry skies. Until next post, Aloha!
