Guided Lava Hike-June 01, 2013

Aloha Gang! The activity that we saw was awesome. The ocean entry as well as the surface flow is extremely active. Both are in the same area, so we didn’t have to go very far to experience both. The view we got at the ocean entry was spectacular as lava was pouring into the sea creating the newest land and the newest black sand. There were two main entry points that were visible as well as the farther ocean entry that was not visible. The non visible entry point is the farthest from us and is just inside of the Hawaii Volcano National Park boundary. Every so often we would see a littoral explosion that would become more and more visible as night fell. The surface flows, which were close by was very active and we were able to safely view multiple breakouts up close. Another great night, Aloha!
