Aloha! The ocean entry is continuing to flow while surface flows have stopped. The ocean entry is stalling slightly, but still active. This drop in activity is caused by the surface breakout near the base of the pali, as well as the Kahaualea flow. This flow is fairly large and is approximately 2.6 mi north of Pu’u O’o and burning forest in the Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve. There is another flow front that is 1.9 mi NNW of Pu’u O’o. These flows are active and taking much of the activity. Even with this decrease in activity the ocean entry is still an amazing sight, being that this is the only place in the world where lava is entering the ocean. Until next time, Aloha!
