September 4,2013 Guided Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone! Activity on the coastal plains still remain active at this time. Lava flows have been creeping it’s ever so close to the ocean. Flows remain just about 1/2 mile away from the ocean. There is no ocean entry at this time. Flows have been just about 1/3 of a mile wide breaks bigger breakouts closer to the Royal Gardens Subdivision. Those flows are a lot further then the flows we have been going to. Activity at the summit remained higher than usual. Steady Deformation at Halema’uma’u crater. The Deformation remained at just around neutral with n major deflation or inflation at this time. As for Pu’u O’o crater the Deformation chart has recorded a deflation with inflation following right after. The flows north of the crater remained active also. The glow from those flows could be seen from the coastal plains. But those flows are pretty much similar` as what we are seeing on the coastal plains. Lava continued to be active for our guests so come and join us while the Lava is flowing. ALOHA!

September 3,2013 Guided Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone! Activity on the coastal plain was active. Flows continued to move seaward but just about 1/3 of a mile away from the cliffs edge. Continued Inflation at the summit has increased the activity on the coastal plains and also the Kahaualea flows which is located north of the Pu’u O’o crater. These flows are not accessible but our tours could see the glare off the evening clouds. Those flows are very active at this time. As for our tours, our guests were extremely happy because of the flows they have witnessed. Hiking distance and length of time still remains the same at this time. Lava active will be pretty much the same this week with some increase in activity at times. Stay tune for more updates in the up coming days. Aloha!

Beautiful surface flows were able to be seen on all of our tours. There are multiple breakouts on the coastal plain right now. The first breakout is just about 2 3/4 mile hike to the leading edge. The Pali breakout is just around 3 1/4 mile hike to and just a tad more active. Lava flows have been decreasing activity this week due to the major Deflation at Halemaumau crater and Pu’u O’o crater. August 31,2013 Guided Lava Hike Update

Aloha everyone! Surface activity was still active on the coastal plains. Flows continue to creep towards the ocean. Flows are just under 1/2 mile away from the ocean’s edge. There is no ocean entry at this time. Minor flows just above the ocean entry had flowed over the edge and at periods there were a small amounts of an ocean entry. But it is not worth taking a boat tour at this time due to unpredictability of a ocean entry at this time. Our guided lava tours are the only way to get up to a active Lava flow. Aloo of our guests were extremely happy with the tour again. Don’t forget to bring Marshamellows for lava roasting. Until next time. Aloha!

August 30,2013 Guided Lava Tour Update

Aloha everyone! Surface flows continue to be active. Beautiful lava flows remain active just under 1/2 mile above the ocean entry. Lava flows continued to flow towards the ocean slow and steady. The flow front is approximately 1/2 mile wide with the most southern flow just outside of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park boundry. Amazing flows were easy to be seen for our guests. All of our guests were extremely happy at the end of the night. The ocean entry seems to be active at times but very slow at this time. It is not worth taking a Lava Boat Tour at this time because of minor active there. Come and join us while the Lava is flowing. Mahalo!

August 29,2013 Guided Lava Hike Update

Aloha everyone! Surface activity on the coastal plains remained very active. The leading edge of the flow has advanced since it broke out two weeks ago. Lava continued to be just about 1/2 mile away from ocean. Our guides had reported  to witness a beginning of a new ocean entry. There was a small breakout just above the previous ocean entry. It seems that the existing tube system that was being fed by Lava is still occupied. Ocean Viewing might be active in this up coming week. Our groups were able to safely view these flows up close. Multiple breakouts happened while we were at the flow and they were very good. Surface breakout were also visible near the base of the Pali. Another great night, Aloha!

We are not conducting any Boat Tours at this time. Surface flows are approximately around 1/2 mile away from the ocean. The flow front at this time is just about 1/2 mile wide also. The flow has made it’s way towards the coast bordering the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park most eastern boundary line. Our guests were extremely happy once again. Come and join us on our guided lava hike tours. Aloha!

August 25, 2013 Guided Lava Hike

Aloha! Tonight’s activity was awesome and we saw multiple surface flows that were great. The surface breakouts were scattered, but most of the activity was near the south eastern part of the leading edge. The leading edge had advanced slightly since last night, but most of the activity last night was  along the eastern side of the leading edge. There is also a breakout near the base of the Pali, but that is a little further than our current hike. The ocean entry is still non existent and has stalled out for a few days now. Even though the ocean entry has stalled, the surface flows are awesome and we were able to safely view the activity. Join us for an experience of a lifetime, Aloha!

Aloha Folks! Tonight we had multiple surface breakouts, while the ocean entry is still non existent. The surface flows are in the same area as they were for the past week. The activity has been awesome and our groups were able to safely view lava up close tonight. Surface breakouts were also visible near the base of the Pali, but we didn’t have to go there as the surface flows we were at were very active. To be able to feel the heat, hear the sounds and see the changes of Tutu Pele as she moves along is something that you can only experience here. Hele Mai, come join us and let us share what we know and what we live with you, Aloha!
