Happy Aloha Friday! Here in Kalapana we are having some over cast skies, light rain, and the air has a slight chill to it. Hoping for a sunnier afternoon!
Once again there are no active surface flows along the coastal plain, as surface flows remain on top of the Pulama Pali. Our Extreme Guided Hikes are still able to view the surface flow on the Pulama Pali, and get within a close viewing distance.
Our Guided Lava Tour on Wednesday got back to our office at 9:00 PM, just in time to enjoy the Ho’olaule’a or “Night Market” which was in full swing. Our guide Chris was able to take his guests on his Lava Hike Tour to the active surface flow on the Pulama Pali. Chris had someone celebrating her birthday on the Lava Tour with him, and she had a great scenic view for her birthday.
Yesterday we didn’t have any Guided Tours go out, but this morning we had a Guided Lava Tour with 2 guides; Jaci and Herbie. They had a group of 15 people join them on this Guided Hike. For the sunrise Guided Hike, the check in time is at 4:00 AM, with a departure time of 4:30 AM. Morning tours are a little more flexible with departure times, as we try to embark on the Guided Tour as soon as possible. This is to maximize the amount of time spent in the dark before the sun rises. Thankfully, today is overcast so the sun won’t be too hard
On side note, tonight we will be hosting an Appreciation Concert at our venue in Kalapana. We have special guests Ledward Ka’apana and his sisters; Rhoda and Trudy joining him. We also have the house band ‘The Kalapana Awa Band’ and other special guests on stage. It will be a night of beautiful music.
Have a great rest of your day, and enjoy your weekend!
